We can become emotionally traumatised in early childhood or in the womb, and we are reacting on a primal level to our mothers' emotional pathology. Every foetus reacts to maternal emotional pathology - and emotional health - at some level, and the response can be an emotional alienating one, so much so that the parts of the foetal brain that develop healthy emotional relating and expression and self-reflection can become stunted.
